Touchdown Fiji! When we landed at the airport in Nadi we talked to two girls that had booked the same accommodation (Bamboo Backpackers) and they had free transfer so we joined them - we were very lucky! We ate a lunch by the beach and did some research about Fiji but it was hard to get anything out of it. When you travel to so many different places and for a long time you spend a lot of time online: planning where to go and what to do. Some times we have a list of places and things to do beforehand. Other times we receive recommendations from people we meet during the trip. Some times we just go there and check with staff at the accomondation, brochures, travel agencies etc, and it was a bit like that in Fiji.
After reasearching for some hours we had dinner: Tim ate kokoda (like cheviche - very good!) and I ate a Dahl with garlic bread. They have a lot of Indian food here which made me very happy. I looked it up and there are many indians here for the reason that the British people shipped Indian labor here by the time of the British Empire. Now you know.
The evening ended with us booking a four-night island hopping out on the Yasawa islands. Two nights at Tavewa Island and two nights at Wayalailai. We paid about SEK 7,300 together for four nights (of which two in dormitories and two in a homestay) with boat transfers, meals, snorkeling and kayaking included. No internet is available on the islands so we are just gonna enjoy "being"! So nice to get some tropical weather again.
06:30 the next day the taxi came and picked us up. Not much to sleep this night either, haha. The remaining day consisted mostly of boat trips (took just over four hours to Coral View, Tavewa Island). When we arrived we checked in and ate pizza. The accommodation is ok, a bit in need for upgrades but the food is super-good - so it weighs up a lot! After lunch we went for a snorkeling trip to the blue lagoon and then back to the hotel, took a shower, ate dinner and played some cards before we went to bed. The pictures with the drone is sooo beautiful. Both the water and snorkeling here were very good here.
