SORRY FOR A LOT OF PICTURES BUT I HAD TO!
Before we went to Manjuyod Sandbar we were a little hesitant about going because we were afraid that it would be a tourist trap and just too overhyped - but I am incredibly happy that we went there (just look at the pictures)! We went from Dauin to Dumagete and then continued to Bais which was the city we started from and also slept one night. The day before, we went around in the town to try to arrange with the boat. We got some suggestions and finally decided on going with the cheapest private boat deal. It ended at 2,500 pesos. You can go there with a booked tour too, but if you do you have to wait for so many others and won't be able to go that early - paying a little more for your own boat was worth it according to us!
5:30 in the morning we had breakfast and 6:00 the tricycle came and picked us up (or, it was actually just a woman with a motorcycle that took all three of us on it, without helmets - do not read this mum, haha). We went out to the sand bar which took maybe 15 minutes.
Then it was low tide and we got to see the sandbar when there was just a beach in the middle of the ocean. We continued to the dolphin watching. So cool to really see them jumping around there in their natural habitat, and they were sooo close to the boat.
We went back to the sand bar again and by that time the water level had already risen to about 50 cm. If you ever plan to go to the Philippines and are in the area, I can really recommend going out here. You can also book a night or two in the bungalows, but be sure to bring some good food, because there is nothing to buy out there.
An hour later or so the water was about a meter high and it wasn't even lunchtime (!). We stayed there for an hour, ate some snacks and just took in the view. After Manjuyod we went back to the BnB, picked up our stuff. The hosts invited us to lunch (how kind?) and we talked about all their travel and life and it was just such interesting conversation. What I love about travelling. Time just flew!
