DAG 1

DAG 3

We were looking for a good deal on a trip to Fraser Island for a long time when finally we found a last minute deal on bookme (really a good website to book excursions from in Australia & New Zeeland). We paid AUD 330 pp for three days and two nights with everything: food, accommodation (3/4-bed dorms), boat, guide, fuel + that you got to drive the cars if you wanted. The company we booked with is called Fraser Dingo. The booked tour includes guided tours to the best on Fraser Island. We had to fix our own bedding and snacks and drink if we wanted it - everything else as I mentioned is included. Bring your water bottles as there's the possibility to fil it at several places.
DAY 1
We went up early on Friday morning and went from our free parking a little outside town / Harvey bay. 7:20 the training for car drivers starts - it is a training about what to consider when driving 4WD on sand. After the training we get divided into different cars and Tim and I end up with two guys from Switzerland, two girls from France and one guy from Ireland. We are joking from the first moment. We have similar humor. This feels good.
We go with Fraser Dingo who has a tag along a tour. This means that we have three cars and the first car is driven by the guide but the other two cars we can take turns to drive (according to certain criteria - 21 years and driving license). We go by car to the ferry that takes us out to the sand island. It's nice weather, a bit cloudy but very hot.
When the boat reaches the island, the car drive begins. It is much more forest than I expected and it is beautiful. We drive along the beach and it is magically beautiful. Even if it rains a little now, but it's still such a nice experience. We stop at Happy Valley, where we are deciding on which rooms we will stay for the coming two nights. We choose a room for four and join the cousins from Switzerland. Hamburgers are served for lunch and then we go to Eli Creek. It rains a little still but we continue with our Volleyball for almost two hours. We call each other by "Sweden" or "Germany" whenever we want a person to catch the ball. There is a lot of laughter and humor even in the other groups and you quickly learn where everyone comes from.
We go back to Happy Valley and eat curry and rice. Already 11pm we were in bed and 05:00 breakfast is served on Saturday (the next day).
DAY 2
You are quite far from "rise and shine" when the alarm goes off but thinking about that the breakfast is already served makes it a little easier. Drink coffee and 05:50 the cars go down to the beach to see the shipwreck SS Maheno in the sunrise. It's cloudy (and very cold) so there will never be any "real sunrise" unfortunately. Instead, we head towards Indian Head. There we look down into the water and see a turtle, several manta rays and a shark - from land! Soo cool!
Next stop is the champagne pools. We still have a cold wind with us and it's therefore a lot of people who skipp the swimming part, but some brave ones jump into the water. After the champagne pool we go to another river that I do'nt remember the name of and also eat some lunch there. Wraps, Greek salad and chicken. In the afternoon we went out to a lake and just chilled there until we got home for garlic bread and pasta bolognese for dinner. It was beerpong tournament (or actually goon tournament) in the evening and when it was time to be quiet at the accommodation (11pm) most people went down to the beach, lit a bonfire and looked at the starry sky. It was SO cozy! Mark from Germany took some pictures of us with the starry sky in the background. Aren't they super cool?
DAY 3
Not as early morning but still 06 the breakfast was served. We went to a lot of different lakes this day, unfortunately don't know the name of them. Of course, the trophy was Lake McKenzie! So beautiful with the clear blue water and the chalky white sand. Can you believe that this is a lake? However, the road to get there was horrible and a near death experience! There was also a tree that had fallen on the road so we had to wait for a while before they sawed it apart and removed it. We went home again to our dear campervan, met up some guys from the tour again, ate a warm and nice pizza and said goodbye. Then went out to a camping site and slept - we were really tired!
